Invisalign Orthodontics

Almost no facial feature has as big of an impact as a perfectly aligned, bright, and confident smile!

How you feel about the way you look is important, but having properly aligned teeth is often about more than just your appearance. Addressing issues with your teeth alignment and bite can improve your oral health by making restorations such as fillings and crowns more effective. Additionally, crowded or overlapping teeth make them more susceptible to decay and periodontal disease since they are difficult to keep clean and can develop bacteria more easily.

Misalignment affects how your teeth come together. It can cause unnecessary wear or even jaw problems, such as temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJD or TMD), that create pain and sensitivity. At Shoreland Dental, we offer our patients an innovative orthodontic solution for more beautiful and healthier teeth!

Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment with Invisalign

Dr. David Azenheimer has frequent requests from patients for straight teeth and sees the need for correctional orthodontics in his patients on a day-to-day basis. He earned his certification in Invisalign so that he could provide our patients with teeth-straightening solutions without traditional brackets and wires.

Invisalign uses nearly invisible clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth over time, making it the most discreet orthodontic treatment option. Because they are smooth, Invisalign is far less irritating than traditional orthodontics. Our patients truly appreciate the convenience and comfort. They often tell us if they knew it would be this easy, they would have done it years ago!

Keeping your teeth clean during orthodontic treatment has always posed some challenges – no one wants to have broccoli stuck in their brackets! Invisalign aligners are removable, making both brushing and flossing easy.

How Invisalign Works

Dr. Dave will first perform an oral evaluation to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign works well for most older teen and adult patients. He will create a treatment plant to determine the proper alignment for your teeth, ensuring a comfortable bite and outstanding esthetics.

Our team will gather data including dental impressions, digital x-rays, and diagnostic photos to send to our Invisalign lab to assist in the creation of your aligner trays.

Typically, you will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, and then you will replace it with the next set in the series. We will schedule progress appointments to ensure that your treatment is on track and make any necessary adjustments.

Your Compliance Is Essential to Your Success!

We recommend that you wear your trays for about 22 hours per day. You can take them out to eat, drink hot beverages, and clean your teeth, but they should remain in your mouth at all other times to ensure timely treatment.

As with all orthodontics, wearing a retainer will be necessary to maintain your new smile. Otherwise, your teeth naturally drift back out of alignment.
