Porcelain Veneers

A beautiful smile is a true asset. It is part of every first impression you make. Having a beautiful smile can help you truly express yourself and give you the freedom to be who you really are.

It is easy to admire celebrity smiles because they are perfect, uniform, and dazzlingly white. Many people think that having a smile fit for the red carpet is completely out of reach. At Shoreland Dental, we create beautiful, dramatic cosmetic changes to our patients’ smiles with porcelain veneers.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, porcelain restorations that completely cover the front of the teeth that are visible when you smile. They are translucent and natural looking but able to completely transform the appearance of your teeth.

How many veneers you will need depends on the size and shape of your smile. Most people opt for between six and eight, but we can place even one veneer on a damaged or stained tooth for immediate improvement. It all depends on your goals for your smile!

We can discuss veneers and other cosmetic options at your cosmetic dentistry consultation with Dr. Dave. He will go over the cosmetic dentistry options that will help you achieve your goals for your smile.

Porcelain veneers can address a number of cosmetic dentistry problems including:

  • Stained teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Worn or shortened teeth
  • Premature wear
  • Chips
  • Gaps between your teeth

Dr. Azenheimer will share his recommendations with you so that you can have the beautiful smile you have always wanted.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a lifelong commitment. As with all dentistry, how you take care of them will play a big role in their longevity and durability. Here are some tips for taking great care of your porcelain veneers:

If it is not food, don’t bite into it! Never use your teeth to open bottles or tear into packages. You should only bite into food and never anything else can cause significant damage to your teeth and dentistry – including ice!

If you grind your teeth, wear a nightguard. Most damage due to clenching and grinding your teeth occurs during sleep. If you have a habit of grinding your teeth, a nightguard will help protect your investment.

Healthy gums are essential. Periodontal (gum) disease can destroy even the most beautiful smile. It can lead to tooth loss, tooth mobility, pain, and even serious health conditions. Come in for your regular professional dental cleanings to stay on track.

Maintain your regular dental appointments. Keeping your regular dental cleaning and exam appointments in our Hazlet, NJ dental office will allow us to address any dental conditions early.

Excellent home dental care is a must! You should brush your teeth at least twice daily and floss at least once a day to keep your teeth and gums free from disease. Using proper techniques including brushing all areas of your teeth and flossing in between each tooth and behind your back teeth will minimize your chances of decay and periodontal disease.
